DELAND, Florida — The Stetson University Hatters rallied for three runs with two outs in the eighth inning to beat the Maine Black Bears 7-6 in baseball action Sunday for a three-game weekend sweep.

Stetson beat Maine 5-1 on Saturday after a 6-4 victory on Friday.

On Sunday, Jacob Koos laced a double to right center to drive in two runs and Matt Morales followed with an RBI single to give the Hatters (10-7) the winning edge.

The Black Bears (4-11) had taken a 6-4 lead into the eighth inning.

Maine scored its first run in the second inning on Brenden Geary’s sacrifice fly and added three more runs in the fourth inning. Colin Ridley drove in the first two runs with a double down the right-field line, plating Tyler Schwanz and Danny Casals. Schwanz led off with a triple and Casals walked.

Geary brought Ridley home with a single up the middle.

The Black Bears added single runs in the fifth and seventh innings with Schwanz smacking an RBI double in the fifth and Ridley adding a run-producing single in the seventh. Ridley leads the team with RBIs this season with 11.

Righthander Joey Gonzalez pitched 1 ⅔ hitless innings to earn the win and righty Walker Sheller came on with a hitless ninth to pick up a save.

Maine reliever Logan Fullmer, a senior righthander, took the loss after giving up three runs and three hits in one inning. The Hatters reached freshman righty and starter Nick Silva for six hits and four runs in 5 ⅔ innings while sophomore lefty Connor Johnson came on with 1 ⅓ scoreless innings.

Ridley sparked the Bears with three hits and three RBIs.

In Saturday’s game, sophomore righthander Brooks Wilson held the Black Bears to four hits and a run in 6 ⅔ innings and three pitchers blanked the Bears for the rest of the way, allowing just a hit.

Wilson walked three and struck out five.

Colton Lightner backed up his pitcher with a two-run home run to left field in the fourth inning. Vance Vizcaino added a double and single.

Maine sophomore righty John Arel (0-2) suffered the loss after going four innings and allowing four runs and four hits. He struck out four and walked two.

Junior righty Jeff Gelinas turned in a solid relief effort of 3 ⅓ innings, giving up a run and two hits while striking out two and walking two.

Casals drove in Maine’s run in the sixth when he laced a double down the right-field line to score Geary, who reached on a two-out infield error and then stole second.

Kevin Stypulkowski singled twice for the Bears and Jonathan Salcedo doubled.
