CAMDEN, Maine — Four teens were injured, one seriously, when the sports utility vehicle they were in slammed into a tree late Sunday night.
The crash occurred shortly before 11 p.m. when a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 16-year-old Robert Bishop of Rockport slammed into a tree while driving west on Hosmer Pond Road, according to Camden police Sgt. John Tooley.
Bishop was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport and then transferred to another hospital. He was in serious condition Monday, Tooley said.
Bishop did not have a driver’s license. The car is registered to his parents.
According to the sergeant, three passengers were injured: Jack Poutasse suffered broken bones and was taken by a family member to Pen Bay; Ethan Hamlin, 16, of Camden suffered bruises and was taken by a family member to Pen Bay; and Kerry Sabanty, 15, of Camden had a head injury and was taken by ambulance to Pen Bay.
Speed and driver inexperience are considered contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation, Tooley said.
