WARREN, Maine — A veteran municipal official has been hired as Warren’s new town manager.
William Lawrence of Lincoln will begin work at the town office beginning June 1, according to Arnold Hill, the chairman of the Board of Selectmen.
Lawrence is currently town manager in Howland. He was hired for that post in May 2015. Before that he worked as manager in White Springs, Florida. He also previously served as interim town manager in Lincoln.
Lawrence’s 30 years of municipal experience is what led Warren selectmen to pick him, the board chairman said. Lawrence also had served for 20 years as a police officer.
He will be paid $70,000 annually and will succeed Robin Bennett, who was hired by Warren in May 2015 as interim manager.
