PORTLAND, Maine — Kevin McAvoy matched a career-high with seven innings pitched on Tuesday night as the Portland Sea Dogs clubbed their way to a 10-4 Eastern League baseball win over the Harrisburg Senators in the series opener on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field.

Top Red Sox prospect Yoan Moncada made his Double-A debut for Portland (26-43) and went 1-for-5 with an RBI single and a run scored. He also made two diving stops defensively and a lunging grab on a liner that he turned into a double play.

The Sea Dogs scored early and often, putting up four runs in the first, two in the second, and three in the third.

Nate Freiman (double, two singles, two RBI), Andrew Benintendi (double, single, RBI) and Aneury Tavarez (two singles, RBI) led the way for Portland. Sean Coyle added a double and an RBI and Cole Sturgeon doubled and drove in two runs.

McAvoy (4-3) allowed three earned runs on seven hits in seven innings, walking one and striking out six.

Tyler Mapes (6-5) lasted just 2⅔ innings for Harrisburg (37-32) and allowed nine runs (eight earned) on 10 hits, walking two and striking out one.

The win was the fourth in a row for the Sea Dogs, their longest win streak since last July.
