A driver flipped an SUV early Wednesday afternoon after rear-ending a street sweeper in Stetson.
The driver was traveling in the direction of Newport on Route 222, also known as Village Road, about 1:25 p.m. when they came up behind a street sweeper cleaning the breakdown lane, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver hit the street sweeper, causing the SUV to flip over and come to a rest in the middle of the road.
The SUV’s driver and passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The street sweeper’s operator wasn’t injured.
