An Indiana man will spend 30 days in jail for groping two teenage girls on a flight to Maine in 2024.

U.S. District Judge John A. Woodcock Jr. handed down the sentence against 27-year-old Aidan J. Carter on Wednesday in federal court in Portland, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.

Carter also will serve five years of probation, the conditions of which require him to complete a sex offender evaluation and any recommended treatment, the U.S. attorney’s office said Thursday morning.

Carter pleaded guilty to assault on Dec. 10, 2025.

Carter was aboard a plane flying to Portland International Jetport in December 2024, when he touched the thigh of a 17-year-old girl after takeoff. When she pushed his hand away, Carter reached across the aisle to grab and squeeze the thigh of a 16-year-old girl, waking her. He also reached toward her genitals, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
