Three armed men broke into a grow house in Belgrade and tied up the couple working there before stealing all the cannabis.

The suspects broke into the licensed Bartlett Road grow house about 6:49 a.m. Wednesday, according to J. Chris Read, the chief deputy of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.

They tied up the couple’s hands at gunpoint and then stole all the cannabis, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash, Read said early Wednesday afternoon.

The men spent three hours plundering the place.

Both victims weren’t injured.

“Now that many communities have multiple marijuana stores, it is unfortunate that this type of event has become a reality,” Read said, noting that the Maine Office of Cannabis Policy was notified of the robbery.

The investigation is ongoing.
