MAPLETON – Alexander Cote Jr., 70, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born Oct. 5, 1936, in Presque Isle, the son of Alexander Cote Sr. and Ida Mae (Wells) Cote. Alex worked as a heavy equipment operator for the city of Presque Isle and as a security man at the Northern Maine fair grounds. He served as constable of Mapleton for 20 years, was a member and past president of the Mapleton Lions Club, a member of the U.S. Trotters Association and a member of the Knights of Columbus No. 2524, Presque Isle. He is survived by two sons and their wives, Andy R. and Lynn of Presque Isle and Philip A. and Lori of Mapleton; a daughter, Carma Jean Ouellette and her husband, Daniel, of Hollis Center; four brothers, Joseph of Portsmouth, N.H., Tony of Rumford, Lenney and Timothy of Connecticut; three sisters, Yvonne Philbrick of West Palm Beach, Fla., Frances Chambers of Perth-Andover, New Brunswick and Kay Chapman of Woodland; three grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Bonnie Delcenio of Presque Isle. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley (Harrington) Cote; a daughter, Deborah Cote; and two brothers, Richard and Pat Cote. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Morency officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary’s North Main Street Catholic Cemetery.
