BELFAST – Alice H. Marshall, 90, died March 26, 2006, at Shore Village Nursing Center in Rockland. She was born July 2, 1915, in Waldo, the daughter of Ralph and Lillian (Wilton) Whitcomb. She attended elementary school in Waldo and graduated in 1934 from Crosby High School in Belfast. She married Charles H. Marshall Oct. 21, 1936. In her lifetime she made wreaths for Harv Way, worked at the Pants Factory, Stinson Canning Company, Daily Brothers Shoe Co. and for 26 years in the stitching room at Truitt Brothers Shoe Company. She enjoyed her family, cooking, canning, gardening, her pet dogs, her collection of chickadee items and the cards she received. She is survived by one son, Dwight C. Marshall and his wife, Patricia, of Belfast; brothers, Eli Whitcomb of Belfast, Richard Whitcomb of Augusta, William Francis Whitcomb of Thomaston; sisters, Ida Dyer of Belfast, Ella Bowden of Winterport, Hazel Gallant and husband, Alley, of Belfast, Gertrude Whitcomb of Waldo, Eleanor Stratton and husband, Earl, of Enfield, Conn.; sister-in-law, Vera Whitcomb of Monroe; brother-in-law, Tom Greenwood and wife, Dorothy, of Benton; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, Fred Carter Jr. and Russell Stickney. Alice was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 40 years; brothers, Fremont Whitcomb and Carl Whitcomb; sister, Eva Greenwood; nephew, Eli Whitcomb Jr.; and niece, Beverly Martin and Brenda Greenwood. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. Those who wish may make donations in her name to Town Line Animal Shelter, Baker Road, Belfast, ME 04915 or a charity of choice. Spring burial will be at Paul Cemetery, Birches Road in Waldo.
