SHELBY, N.C. – Allan Bruce Paul, 72, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, Fla. He was born in Milo, the son of William L. and Anne Parlin Paul. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired after 30 years of service from the U.S. Navy serving as a ship’s damage control specialist. He was an avid bass fisherman and loved playing with and caring for his grandchildren and great-grand-children. He also retired as a maintenance manager for Fields Young Inc. Mr. Paul was a member of the Ascension Lutheran Church of Shelby, N.C. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Simmons Paul; three sons, Randolph Simmons Paul and wife, Marine, of Ecuador, Glenn Edward Paul and wife, Sandi, of Asheville, N.C. and Ivan “Bruce” Paul and wife, Lyn, of Shelby, N.C.; one daughter, Lynda Carol Morrow and husband, Dennis of Shelby, N.C.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William L. Paul and wife, Betty, of Melbourne, Fla., Philip P. Paul and wife, Caroline, of Millinocket; and five sisters-in-law, Ginger Sanborn of East Lyme, Conn., Donna Paul of Brownville, Margaret Paul of Lyndenville, Vt., Nancy Paul of Orono and Eveyln Yost of Charlottesville, Va. A Memorial Service was held Sunday, Dec. 7 at the Ascension Lutheran Church. Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Paul’s name to the American Cancer Society, 500 East Morehead, Charlotte, NC 28202 or to the charity of one’s choice.
