BRIDGEWATER – Al Kingsbury, 97, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, surrounded by his family at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born Oct. 15, 1909, in Bridgewater, the son of Robert Daniel and Sadie (Huntington) Kingsbury. Al farmed for most of his life on the family farm and after his retirement, continued his involvement through his sons and grandsons, seeing the evolvement from horses to modern equipment. Al also spent much of his time in the woods – working, hunting and fishing. He loved his time at the camp in E Plantation with family and friends around the campfire. He was a proud member of the Maine Antique Tractor Club and a longtime member of the Free Baptist Church, Bridgewater. Al was a lifelong learner and a teacher by example. Dad is survived by seven children and their spouses, Rita Kingsbury, Dennis and Cathy Kingsbury, Keith and Donna Kingsbury, Ginny Kingsbury, Larry and Denise Kingsbury, Julie Chizanskos, Scott and Kelly Kingsbury. Dad’s loving and exciting grandchildren include Glenda and Jeri Fox, Tracy and Bill Whitten, Rhett and Tracy Fox, Robb and Kristi Kingsbury, Tim and Wendy Kingsbury, Shelley Sue and Rod Brewer, Shane and Duska Kingsbury, Sandy and Brent Flewelling, Ian and Angela Smith, Chad and Jessica Kingsbury, Jerod Kingsbury, Lori and Andrew McQuade, Sarah Chizanskos, Michelle Kingsbury, Meaghan and Scott Mullen and Brock Kingsbury. Old Gramp’s 26 great-grandchildren include River, Rayne, Thyme and Winter Whitten, Jerica, Jaylee and Dakota Fox, Adam, Dillon, Krystal and Molly Kingsbury, Kaine and Laken Kingsbury, Logan Brewer, Dane, Colby, Hayden and Brighton Kingsbury, who expect a new baby brother or sister in February, Carson, Kyle and Grace Flewelling, Colin and Rylan Smith, Elaine and Mallory Kingsbury and Maggie McQuade. Al will also be missed by his good friend, Michelle Delong. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, “Mickey”Mildred Grass Kingsbury; sister, Arvilla Cook; and two great-grandchildren, Jessie and Jeremy Fox. The family would like to express their thanks to the kind and attentive care received by Dad and the family from the staff of the SCU of the Aroostook Medical Center. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the Free Baptist Church, Bridgewater. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the Revs. Robert Vaughn and Whitfield Curtis, officiating. Friends may call 1 p.m. until time of service. Interment will take place after the service at Corner Cemetery, Bridgewater.
