BANGOR and BREWER – Althea S. (Corcoran) Tozier, wife of the late Everett Tozier, passed away Feb. 12, 2008, at a local health facility. She was born June 20, 1945, a daughter of William “Bill” and Mildred (Montgomery) Corcoran. Althea lived in different parts of Maine, mostly in the Bangor area. She graduated from Bangor High School in 1965. She had a child, and met and married Everett in 1966. They met while working at Striar’s Textile Mill, Orono. She worked there until she became a school crossing guard in 1979. She had that job for many years, until her health made her stop. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to the oldies-a big Elvis fan and country music, watching movies and sports. Locally her teams were the Bangor Rams and the University of Maine Black Bears. Pro level they were the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and Patriots, as well as WWE. Personally, it was whatever team her family members were on. Whether it was son, Charlie, with his basketball or baseball; grandsons, John, with his Special Olympics and baseball league or Shawn, with his bowling or granddaughter, Kim, with her cheerleading and softball. Althea is survived by a daughter, Evelyn Morrison and her husband, Timothy, of Brewer; and a son, Charles Tozier of Bangor; a brother, Harold Corcoran and his wife, Theresa, of Glenburn; a sister, Margaret Corcoran of East Orland; grandchildren, Jonathan and Kimberly Morrison of Brewer; stepgrandson, Shawn Morrison of Brewer and his son, Xavier Morrison, of Biddeford; many Tozier brothers and sisters-in-law; generations of nieces, nephews, cousins and her friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Everett in 1999; two sons, infant Everett Jr. in 1972 and Floyd in 2003. Her family would like to thank all the staff and volunteers at the health facilities where she has been for almost a year and all those who came to visit. Family and friends will gather for visitation 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport. Internment will be held at Green Lawn Cemetery, Swansville, at a date to be announced in the spring.
