BANGOR, NORTH CONWAY, N.H. and SUFFERIN, N.Y. – Anna Y. (Carparelli) Shearing, a woman of remarkable talent, beauty, love and faith, went home to be with the Lord Oct. 6, 2004, at Calvary (Hospice) Hospital in New York, after a courageous battle with metastatic lung cancer. She was 62. Anna was born in Bangor, Oct. 19, 1942, to Rita (Baldasseroni) Carparelli and Vincenzo James Carparelli. She graduated from John Bapst High School in 1961 and graduated from the University of Maine, Orono, in 1965. While at the University, Anna, who had always displayed a remarkable talent for the arts, began a promising acting career, participating in summer stock and eventually doing graduate work at the University of Michigan, that let to an acting fellowship at the Hillsbury Classic Theatre at Wayne State University. After graduation, she was selected by the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. and performed there until her marriage. Anna left her career and married John A. Shearing in June of 1968. They have two sons, Geoffrey M. and James G. Shearing. Anna also raised Jack’s three children from a previous marriage, Anne, Laura and John. Anna devoted herself to her new family with great love and gave all she could to help them. Anna truly loved the Lord. Her Christian faith and spirituality was translated into action. She worked tirelessly for the crisis pregnancy center philanthropy and contributed financially to many Christian groups. She was deeply involved with community church groups wherever she resided. Surviving in addition to her husband, Jack; two sons, Geoff and Jim; and three stepchildren are her brother, Nicholas Carparelli and his wife, Lorna, of North Haven, Conn.; a sister, Carmela (Carparelli) Hansen and her husband, G. Richard, of Bangor; and sister-in-law, Marguerite Baldacci of Belfast; and many, many nieces and nephews whom she loved and cherished and enjoyed visiting with when she came to Maine. Anna was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Vasco A. Baldacci and Robert E. Baldacci Sr. A memorial service to celebrate Anna’s life will be in Conway, N.H., 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at the Conway Pentecostal Ministries on the corner of Washington Avenue and Route 16 in Conway.
