AUSTIN ‘WAYNE’ MITCHELL MT. DESERT – Austin “Wayne” Mitchell, 64, died Oct. 3, 2003, in Mt. Desert. He was born Nov. 30, 1938, in Ellsworth, the son of Austin M. and Lena G. (Norwood) Mitchell. He served in the Air Force for 11 years and in the Navy for 11 years, serving in the Korean Conflict, Vietnam and the Cuban Crisis. Austin “Wayne” enjoyed hunting and fishing and playing pool. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Mary “Ramsdell” of Mt. Desert; one son, Austin Ralph Mitchell of Mt. Desert; and one daughter, Teresa Lee Mitchell of Southwest Harbor; two sisters, Priscilla and husband, Joe Trafton and Hilda Berry, both of Southwest Harbor; several nieces and nephews. Austin was predeceased by his sister, Alice Bouchard. Contributions in Austin “Wayne’s” memory may be made to the Jay Ramsdell Scholarship Fund, care of Trust Department, First National Bank, Bar Harbor, ME 04609.
