AVIS MAE HIGGINS ELLSWORTH – Avis Mae Higgins, passed away peacefully Jan. 21, 2008. She was born Feb. 10, 1918, in Walden, Vt., to Elmer and Ella LaBrec. Avis was a loving mother and grandmother, and found in each day something to appreciate and hold dear in her kind and gentle heart. She is survived by her son, Steve and his wife, Alice, of Irving, Texas; her daughter, H. Ann White and her husband, Everett, of Hulls Cove; her daughter, Gail and her husband, Skip, of Bangor; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grand-children, many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. John Episcopal Church, Main Street, Southwest Harbor. The family requests that donations made in memory of Avis be made to Collier’s Resident Activity Fund, care of Carol Grindle, 33 Birch Ave., Ellsworth, ME 04605 or to St. John Episcopal Church, 319 Main St., Southwest Harbor, ME 04605.
