BLUE HILL – Barbara Standish (Hunt) Dodge died peacefully May 3, 2006, at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 30, 1926, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Franklin L. and Dorothy (Allen) Hunt, and grew up in Summit, N.J. She attended Kent Place School in Summit, and graduated with honors from Wellesley College, Class of 1948. While at Wellesley, she was a member of the Shakespeare Society and the recipient of the John Masefield Literary Award. After graduation, she worked for the Educational Testing Service, as an editor and later was an information analyst for the CIA. Barbara spent all of her summers since childhood in Brooklin, where she met her husband, David. They were married Jan. 29, 1955, in Summit, N.J., and subsequently moved to Bethesda, Md., where they raised their family. She loved reading, especially mysteries, gardening, and both designing and solving word puzzles. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, two children, Allen P. Dodge of Cornish Flat, N.H. and Carolyn H. Moxley of Gaithersburg, Md.; a brother, Allen S. Hunt of Bakersfield, Vt.; three grandchildren, Emily Rogers, Joseph Dodge, David A. Dodge; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Friend Memorial Library, P.O.
