ORRINGTON – Barbara J. Yacono, 52, died July 25, 2004, at a Bangor hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 8, 1952, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Arthur A. and Stella J. (Gasior) Yacono. Barbara graduated with a BS degree from the Ivey School of Professional Art, in Pennsylvania, to become a graphic artist. For more than 30 years, Barbara enjoyed painting and specialized in illustration and book design. She graduated from the University of Maine, Orono, with a BS degree in psychology and taught for a brief period. Barbara was very athletic and enjoyed running and ballet. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Hampden. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, JoAnn Yacono-Brandt of Orrington. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, July 29, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Robert C. Vaillencourt, celebrant.
