FORT KENT – Claude Voisine, 86, died Aug. 22, 2007, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born July 17, 1921, in Fort Kent, the son of Octave and Laura (Madore) Voisine. He was a World War II veteran and was in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Fort Kent and a member of the VFW Lozier O’Grady Post No. 9609, Fort Kent. Claude worked for various farmers in the Fort Kent area as a young man. He loved planting and watching the crops grow. He continued working for local farmers, much past his retirement until his health wouldn’t permit him; nurturing the soil, growing flowers and vegetables was his passion. He was predeceased by his wife, Albertine (Gagnon) Voisine, in January 2004. He is survived by one son, Lee Voisine; a family friend, Albert Deluc; one daughter, Leta and her husband, Peter Voisine, all of Fort Kent; two grandchildren, Paul and his wife, Sandra, and Mike Voisine; and two very special great-grandsons, Nathan and Connor Voisine. He is also survived by one foster brother, John Lizotte; three sisters-in-law, Blanche Bouchard and Gladys Gagnon of Fort Kent and Claire Gagnon of Berwick; many nieces and nephews. At his request, there will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. Friends are asked to attend a Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m. Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services with full military honors will be held after at the parish cemetery. In Claude’s memory those who wish may donate to a charity of choice.
