PRESQUE ISLE – Dawn E. Grounds, 83, died Saturday, April 1, 2006, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born Oct. 11, 1922, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Stephen and Dora (Beckwith) Rediker. Dawn was a graduate of Presque Isle High School and in 1942 married John R. Grounds Sr. She was a housewife for many years and then went to work for Converse Shoe as a stitcher. One of Dawns favorite past times was playing cards. She was a member of the Grant Memorial Methodist Church, the Spragueville Extension at which she was recently honored as a 50 year member, the Dorcas Circle, past member of the Aroostook Grange, Presque Isle Senior Citizens, Presque Isle Widows Group and a volunteer at the hospital as well. Her true enjoyment in life was her time spent with her family. She is survived by three children, Sandra Bartley and her husband, Barry, of Westfield, John R. Jr. and his wife, Judi, of Richmond, Va. and Garland of Presque Isle; sister, Audrey Ryzmek of Lebanon; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lillian Rediker of Saco, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Rediker. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Blackstone officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
