WINTERPORT – Dora A. (Whidden) Glueck, 92, passed from this life June 12, 2008. She was born April 3, 1916, in St. Albans, N.Y., first of the four children to Harold P. Whidden and Dora Edna (Todd) Whidden. She is survived by sons, Harold F. Glueck and his wife, Barbara, of New Hartford, N.Y., and Richard D. Glueck and his wife, Carole Ann, of Winterport; and beloved son-in-law, Stanley R. Hellman of Larchmont, N.Y. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Lauren Glueck, Craig Glueck and his wife, Valerie, Kendra (Glueck) Abramson and her husband, Gary, Tristan Glueck and Emily Hellman. Dora has two great-grandchildren, Molly and Ethan Glueck; and is survived by her brother, Carl V. Whidden of Sarasota, Fla. Dora was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Harry A. Glueck of Oxford; and her daughter, Marguerite E. (Glueck) Hellman. Dora and Harry resided in Oxford for 17 years, enjoying their gardens, their pets, the community and the peace and tranquility of Maine. Prior to moving to Winterport in 1999, Dora served as chairperson for Oxford/Otisfield Salvation Army. Dora was an active animal welfare advocate, helping to establish and support Responsible Pet Care, Norway. Dora was a devoted and dedicated member of First Universalist Church of South Paris. While residing in Winterport, she was an active member of Winterport Senior Citizens. Dora believed that life’s energy is set free after death, just as life’s fabric is returned to the Earth. With that thought, we will expect to see a trace of her spirit and radiance in every new life that is hereafter brought into the world. In that way, we are all reunited throughout eternity. A memorial service will be held in South Paris at a date to be announced. Memorial gifts in Dora’s name may be made to Responsible Pet Care, Norway or New Hope Hospice, Eddington, both of which will enrich our mother’s spirit. Her family wishes to thank the supporting staff of New Hope Hospice, Eddington, for their gifts of service, time and tender care. Arrangements by Memorial Alternatives, Bangor.
