WALTHAM, Mass. – Mrs. Edna Morton “Teddy” (Rideout) Leard, 83, of Waltham died Saturday April 30, 2005, at Maristhill Nursing Home in Waltham, Mass. She was born June 11, 1921, in Cambridge, Mass., a daughter of the late Alfred and Bernice Rideout. She was a graduate of Somerville High School, and was a registered nurse for many years for the Massachusetts Memorial Hospital in Boston, where she also graduated from with the Class of 1942. She and her family were members of the Piety Corner Club and enjoyed the activities and friendship that were made there. She was on the board of directors at the Leland Home in Waltham and a volunteer at the Waltham Hospital Thrift Shop. She enjoyed the time spent in Maine both as a young girl visiting her aunt and uncle, George and Mary Payne and as an adult with her family and Maine friends in their summer home. She was the wife of the late Dr. Samuel E. Leard, M.D. She is survived by her children, Richard W. Leard and his wife, Jane, of Waltham, Mass., Barbara J. Norris of Winterport, and John S. Leard and his wife, Elaine, of Simsbury, Conn.; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Thomas, Chad, Erica, Kristen, David, Joshua, Brenda; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Connor, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St. (Rte. 20), Waltham, Mass. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, Mass. Visiting hours are 5-8 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Waltham Police Relief Association, 155 Lexington St., Waltham, MA 02452.
