DELRAY BEACH, Fla., and CLINTON – Elizabeth Claire (Plummer) Sim-onson, 79, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at her residence in Delray Beach, Fla. She was born Aug. 21, 1927, in Richmond, the daughter of John C. and Mary A. (Woodman) Plummer. She attended Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, Class of 1945. She was a lance corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, Calif., from 1949 to 1951. She was employed by The Shawmut Kindergarten, Shawmut; the Gould School, Hinckley; and West Street School, Fairfield. She loved family, antiquing, reading a good mystery and watching old movies. She collected old jewelry and collectibles and loved a good find. She was predeceased by her parents, John C. and Mary A. Plummer; two brothers, Bernard F. and John W. Plummer and her husband, Clair R. Simonson; and first husband, Donald McMann. Survivors include her four sons, retired Major Bernard M. McMann, USMC, and daughter-in-law, Susan McMann, of Houlton, James and Robert Simonson of Clinton, and Stewart Simonson and daughter-in-law, Suzanne Simonson of Roswell, Ga.; one daughter, Patricia LaVerdiere and son-in-law, Jeffrey LaVerdiere of China; eight grandsons, Brian McMann of Houlton, Jackson and William Simonson of Roswell, Ga., Tyson, Jason, Kyle and Joshua LaVerdiere of China, and Christopher Giampietro of China; and one granddaughter, Sierra Ann Boardman of Fairfield. Her body was cremated. A committal service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 20, at the chapel of the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. A reception celebrating Elizabeth’s life will be held afterwards at the residence of Patricia and Jeffrey Laverdiere, Fire Road No. 19, China Lake, China Village. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Maine Central Institute, 125 South Main St., Pittsfield, ME 04967. Arrangements are by Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapel of Delray Beach, Fla.
