ELLSWORTH – Elsie Hemmerlin, 83, died March 17, 2004, at the Ellsworth Hospital. She was born March 5, 1921, in Bristol, England, the daughter of John and Mabel (Duggan) Woolf. During World War II, Elsie was conscripted by British Military, was assigned to U.S. Headquarters, and was recognized by the Queen for her service. In later years, Elsie was a legal secretary and loving mother of four children and assisted in the operations of the family piano business. Her hobbies included playing the piano and accompanying her husband who played the violin. She truly enjoyed music and was an avid flower gardener. She was a member of the Daughter’s of the British Empire, St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Joseph’s Golden Age Group. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Albert; two sons, Jeff and wife, Cindy, of Branchville, N.J., and David and wife, Lisa, of West Milford, N.J.; two daughters, Ruth Asare and Margaret Landaas and husband, John, of Seattle, Wash.; and one brother, Jack Woolf of Bristol, England; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to call, 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2004, at Jordan Funeral Home, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be prayed at 11 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 231 Main St., Ellsworth, with Father Lou Phillips celebrant. Interment will be at Mt.
