CARIBOU – Ernest M. Belanger, 77. died Dec. 18, 2005, at Caribou. He was born July 27, 1928, in Connor, the son of Mack and Ozithe (Cote) Belanger. He was a 1946 graduate of Caribou High School and attended Ricker College. Mr. Belanger served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a life member of the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 VFW. He married Jeannine (Plourde) Belanger Oct. 31, 1959. Ernest was employed for more than 37 years at Belanger’s Farm Machinery in Caribou. He was a faithful member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a Fourth Degree member, past Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator of the Fred V. Brescia Council 1870 Knights of Columbus. He was a member and past president of the Caribou Lions Club. Surviving in addition to his wife of more than 46 years, Jeannine of Caribou; are his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jeannette Belanger of Augusta; one brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Omerine Belanger of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two sisters, Elda Crouch of Caribou and Doris Alexander of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Lelia Ann, Diana Ellen and Benjamin Michael Belanger, all of Augusta; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Fr. David Raymond, officiating. Spring interment will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
