ROBBINSTON (Washington County) – Fernald M. Lasie, 80, died peacefully Nov. 11, 2004, at a Bangor hospital surrounded by his family after a short illness. He was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Calais to Charles and Emma (Morrison) Laslie. There he attended local schools and graduated from Calais Academy. Fernald was a World War II ‘D’ Day veteran. He spent his entire life as an admired professional builder leaving a legacy of work all over New England. He is survived by three sons, Paul Laslie of Portland, Carl Laslie of Windsor, Jeffery Laslie of Viola, Kan.; two stepsons, Philip Kneeland of Apopaka, Fla., Jay Pearson of Perry; nine grandchildren, Stephen, Sara, Donna, Ryan, Jennifer, Mallonee, Alex, Courtney, and Ryan; one great-granddaughter, Kathryn. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, at Fernald’s Route 1 residence in Robbinston to celebrate his life and friendship.
