MATTAWAMKEAG – George H. LaFountain, 83, husband of the late Katheryn LaFountain, died July 27, 2006, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Starks, the son of Foster and Nellie (Duley) LaFountain. Anyone who knew him will always remember his kindness. He was always helping others and never wanted or asked for anything in return. He enjoyed going to church, VFW, benefit suppers and going to car auctions with his “buddy,” Leon Markie Sr. He had a life long passion for antique cars. He collected almost anything, including bells and paperweights. The greatest joy in his life was his family. Making his grandchildren happy was his number one priority; and he was great at it. He will be greatly missed by everyone. His favorite saying was “If you can’t joke about it, you might as well not be here!” He is survived by seven children, Allen of Mattawamkeag, Terry of Medway, Vaughn of Bangor, David of Mattawamkeag, Michael and his wife, Louann, of Lee, Michelle LaFountain of Bangor and Lisa Jordan and her husband, Roger, of Mattawamkeag; six siblings, Richard, Wallace, Helen, Gloria, Violet and Dorothy; nine grandchildren, Chris, Matt, Ben, Ryan, Mike Jr., Katie, Amie, Cody and Taylor; one great-grandchild, Kolby; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Monday at the Mattawamkeag Cemetery with the Rev. Rich Pante officiating. Those who wish may make donations to a charity of their choice. For an online register book, please visit www.clayfuneralhome.com
