CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. George R. Adams Jr., 84, passed away Feb. 14, 2007, after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 27, 1922, in Eddington, to George and Esther Adams. He was a native of Hampden and a resident of Englewood, Fla., since 1991. George was a man of many talents with a knack for making things work. He loved the wilderness and was an avid outdoorsman. He owned and operated George R. Adams Jr. Co., which installed and maintained gasoline service stations, as well as, worked with other petroleum-based products. His first wife, Sophie; his son, George R. III; and his daughter, Terrie, all predeceased him. He is survived by his wife, Alice; his devoted daughters, Carolyn Adams of Santa Rosa, Calif., Barbara L. Adams of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Donna M. Adams of Cocoa, Fla.; his much loved grandchildren, Jennifer Groh, George Adams IV and Sabrina Adams; his caring sister, Arlene Hamilton of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and his brother, Phil and Hilma of Bangor; and his stepdaughters, Nancy Furrough and Jan Spencer; stepsons, Curtis and Gary Keller; stepgrandchildren, Michelle, Colby, Seth, Ben, Brad, Lindsay, Tyler and Kimberly; great-stepgrand-children, Joshua and Sadie; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held in Maine at a later date. Donations may be made to a charity of choice. Lemon Bay Funeral Home, Englewood Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
