CALAIS – Gerry Leonard Sabattus, 56, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at his mother’s home after a long illness. Gerry was born April 2, 1951, in Calais, son of Paul and Betty (Tracy) Sabattus. In 1978, he married Karen Bosien, in Calais. Gerry was employed for many years as a sales clerk for State of Maine liquor store in Calais. He was a member of the International Knights of Pythias and the Sons of the American Legion, Calais. Gerry enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was predeceased by his father, Paul; a sister, Susan Carson; and a brother, Jeffrey Sabattus. Surviving are his wife, Karen; two children, Jennifer Cassidy and husband, Matthew, of Brunswick, and Paul Sabattus and wife, Meaghan, of Grafton, N.H.; his mother, Betty Moreside of Calais; a brother, Mike Sabattus of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Caleb and Ryland Sabattus, and Samuel and Kelsey Cassidy; three aunts, Doris Castonia of Casco Bay, Barbara Sabattus of Calais, and Caroline Sabattus of Bangor; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Calais Cemetery with Father Frank Morin officiating. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais.
