PRESQUE ISLE – Gertrude E. Goan, 87, died July 25, 2007, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born Feb. 3, 1920, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Lamont and Mary Ellen (Sweeney) Thompson. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle. Surviving her are two daughters, Cheryl McArdle of Presque Isle and Mary Ellen Bushman of Leonardtown, Md.; a brother, Walter Thompson of Presque Isle; sisters, Regina Calabani of Newport, R.I., and Helen Goodreau of Wesfield, Mass.; stepdaughters, Shirley Cyr, Connie Reynolds, Carol Maynard, Patty Deletetsky, Debbie Booth, and Joan Ferland; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; also special friends, Mary Jo Badger, Karen Winslow and Mort and Stella Carlstrom. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, July 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Morency, celebrant.
