POLAND, POWNAL, and BANGOR – Gertrude Faye Scott, 82, died at her home in Poland after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family and friends. She was born Feb. 1, 1923, in Jacksonville, daughter of Madeline Scott. She also lived many years in Pownal and Bangor. Gertrude attended the Senior Enrichment Center in Portland where she enjoyed sewing, beano, bowling, volunte-ering and helping others. She also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, children, animals, puzzles, attending church and bean suppers, and socializing with everyone. She is survived by her foster family and friends, Brenda Wood from Poland, Astardey Wood from Gardiner, Ronald and Cora Wood from Millinocket, Marlene York and Charlie Gomm from Howland. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. June 23, 2005, at the West Cumberland United Methodist Church, 100 Methodist Rd., Cumberland, followed by a reception and celebration of life in the parish hall.
