LINCOLN – Helen Eastman Head died 5:30 a.m. Dec. 8, 2006, at the family home 815 Main St., Lincoln. Born Dec. 23, 1916, she was married for 65 years this past October. Helen was born and resided in Dover, N.H., for 75 years. In 1989 she moved to Lincoln, upon the retirement of her husband. Her vocational endeavors consisted of kindergarten teacher, bookkeeper, bank teller, mortgage officer and auditor, after attending the University of New Hampshire and MacIntosh School of Business. She was on the board of directors for the Children’s Home, Wentworth Home for the Aged, and other benevolences. Helen was an active member in the Methodist Church, Dover, N.H. She joined the First Congregational Church of Dover, N.H., when she married in 1941. For many years in service to her church, she was a deaconess, Sunday school teacher and superintendent, as well as co-director of Pilgrim Fellowship. She was a fine and conscientious Christian and a friend to all those she met. She will be remembered by those many lives she touched. She is survived by her husband, William C. Head; their son, William E. Head and his wife, Susan S. Head; and three grandchildren, Bryan E. Head, Katharine N. Head and Bert James Head; as well as many cousins in New Hampshire, Maine and Kentucky. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at the First Congregational Church of Lincoln with a Dover, N.H., service to be announced at a later date. With respect to Helen’s love for children, gifts may be given in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
