VAN BUREN – Helen R. Cyr, 83, died Oct. 23, 2004, at a Portland nursing home. She was born Jan. 31, 1921, in Van Buren, the daughter of Michael and Jennie (Levesque) O’Donnell. Helen was employed as a bookkeeper for many years for Elmer Violette Law Office and the Van Buren Housing Authority. She was also self-employed as a tax preparer for many years. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Edward Cyr of St. Simons Island, Ga.; one brother, Michael O’Donnell of Monmouth; one sister, Theresa Cyr and her husband, Gilman, of Cranberry, N.J.; one grandson, Eric Cyr of North Pole, Alaska; one granddaughter, Julie Cyr and her husband, David Underwood, of New Ipswich, N.H.; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Fabien A. Cyr in 1999. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren, from 9 a.m. until time of service on Friday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be in the parish cemetery.
