MEDWAY – Jack D. Pelkey, 65, died Sept. 8, 2005, at his home, surrounded by a loving family. He was born May 24, 1940, in East Millinocket, the son of William (Max) and Lydia (McLaughlin) Pelkey Sr. He loved carving wooden Christmas ornaments, walking sticks, characters and fish creels. His carvings warmed the lives, homes and camps of people throughout the country. He also loved spending time with his family, children and grandchildren, some of which were pets and also loved searching for rainbows. He attended the First Congregational Church of East Millinocket, Pine Level Methodist Church of Arcadia, Fla., and was a member of the Nollesemic Masonic Lodge in Millinocket. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda (Dempsey) of Medway; his son, Mark and wife, Jill, of East Millinocket; his daughter, Lorrie and husband, Mark Nadeau, of Millinocket; his son, Dan and wife, JoAnn, of Charlestown, N.H.; and his son, Don and wife, Sherri, of East Millinocket. He is survived by nine grandchildren, Josh and James Pelkey, Kara McDunnah and husband, DJ and Tom Cote, all of East Millinocket, Brad Nadeau of Brewer, Brian and Malorrie Nadeau of Millinocket, Michelle Walker and her husband, Steve and Jimmy Ferguson, all of Springfield, Vt.; one great-grandchild, Hunter Walker also of Springfield, Vt. and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a sister, Polly Nelson of East Millinocket; and a brother, William “Max” or “Billy” Pelkey Jr. and his wife, Bess, of Lincolnton, Ga. He was predeceased by two sisters; Martha Paoletti of East Millinocket and Claudine McLaughlin of Medway. A Masonic funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Sept. 17, at the First Congregational Church of East Millinocket. A burial service will follow at the East Millinocket cemetery and then a luncheon at the First Congregational Church of East Millinocket dining room for those who wish to join in the celebration of Jack’s life.
