HERMON – John “Bud” R. Stevens, 84, passed away July 19, 2008, at his home. He was born April 30, 1924, in Bangor, the son of Harold and Louise Stevens. John graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1942. He joined the U.S. Navy and served four years. John then attended Husson College for one year. He joined the Air National Guard and was activated during the Korean War and served in Korea for a year. John retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1968 and then worked in real estate for a few years in New Hampshire. John was a member of VFW Post No. 1761 for 60 years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dawn “Irene” (Camber) Stevens of Hermon; his son and wife, Michael Stevens and Karen of Lake Arrowhead, Calif.; two granddaughters, Kalyn and Morgan Stevens of Fargo, N.D.; one sister-in-law and her husband, Doris and Albert Noyes of Baltimore; several nieces and nephews, Pam and Tim Harris, Paula and Steve Kunanice, all of Baltimore, David Gafin of Downey, Calif., and Linda Fricker of Brooksville, Fla. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Rosemary Gafin. Relatives and friends are invited to share in a memorial reception to be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
