NANTUCKET, Mass. – Jonathan Walton, 48, died unexpectedly Friday, March 24, 2006, at his residence in Nantucket, Mass. He was born April 10, 1957, at Presque Isle, the son of Merle and Irma (Higgins) Walton. He graduated from Presque Isle High School, Class of 1975. He worked as a parts manager at Don Allen’s Ford Dealership in Nantucket for 17 years. Jonathan coached Little League girls’ softball for Don Allen Ford Tigers for the past four years and they won the championship in 2005. He bought a rose for every girl on the team every year. He is already missed by 50+ nieces and nephews on the island. He was a workaholic, but when he was not working he was on the ocean fishing, claming, or socializing. Jonathan was a collector of art, built model boats out of wood in his spare time and donated to every cause on the island. He is survived by his mother, Irma Walton Allen of Presque Isle; a brother, Jeffrey Walton and his wife, Linda, of Old Orchard Beach; five sisters, Deborah and her husband, Ronald Beaulieu, of Presque Isle, Bonnie and her husband, Sam Martin, of Ocala, Fla., Jane Walton of Northport, Fla., Jennifer and her husband, Ron Gagnon, of Lebanon and Tracy Kinney of Presque Isle; 12 nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and great-nephews; two aunts, Sharon Lackey and her husband, Bob, of Aurora, Colo., Lois Higgins of Presque Isle; a great-uncle, Ivan Ricker and his wife, Elaine, of Presque Isle; two special friends, Bill and Debbie Tornovish and their daughters, Grace Ann and Morgan of Nantucket, Mass. He was predeceased by his father, Merle Walton; a brother, Darren; and his stepfather, Clayton Allen. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rick Kavanaugh officiating. Spring interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
