HOLDEN – Kenneth Eugene Butler, 83, died Aug. 15, 2005, at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a two and a half-year courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Mexico, April 11, 1922, the son of Peter and Lena Butler. Ken was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served 27 years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He retired from the U.S. Veterans Administration, Togus as an adjudicator for 32 years. Ken spent many years as a dedicated volunteer at the Maine Veteran’s Home in Bangor. He is survived by one son, George “Skip” Butler and wife, Nancy, of Eddington; one grandson, Shane Kenneth Butler and wife, Kira, of Bradley; one granddaughter, Kerri Lyn Butler of Holden; one great-grandson Wyatt George Butler of Bradley; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Greenlawn Memorial Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, Brewer, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot, Cleweyville Cemetery, Holden, with full military honors.
