MARIANNE E. CONROY BUCKSPORT- Marianne E. Conroy, 79, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, in Bucksport. Born the daughter of Edward and Martha Martin in Prague, Czech Republic, she came to the U.S. in 1954, where she married Joseph F. Conroy. She worked as a housekeeper at St. Vincent de Paul rectory for her special friends, Father Norman Cormier, Father James Gower and Father John O’Hara for many years, and also did housekeeping for area hotels. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where she would serve coffee and donuts after masses, and also ran the daycare. Marianne is survived by one son, Michael Conroy and his wife, Cherri, of Bucksport; as well as close friends, Tina and Perley York, and Richard Tennant. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph F. Conroy, in 1989. Friends and family will gather for visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Franklin Street, Bucksport, with Father Scott Mower, celebrant. Burial will be in the spring at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marianne’s memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Rectory Fund, P.O. Box S, Bucksport, ME 04416.
