MARLO C. HJULSTROM WOODLAND – Marlo Clifford Hjulstrom, 70, died Oct. 2, 2003, at his Woodland residence. He was born Feb. 8, 1933, in Caribou, the son of Clifford and Thelma (Finnemore) Hjulstrom. He graduated from Caribou High School and from 1956-1958, he served with the U.S. Army in Germany. He married Elinor (Bickford) Hjulstrom, Aug. 11, 1958. Marlo’s grandparents, August and Anna Hjulstrom emigrated from Sweden, Europe and settled on their Woodland farm in 1895. Marlo was very proud of his Swedish heritage and lived and farmed on the family homestead his entire life. He retired in 1999, but continued to help around the farm any way he could until his death. Mr. Hjulstrom attended the New Sweden Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife of over 45 years, Elinor, of Woodland are his son, Craig Marlo Hjulstrom of Woodland; daughter and son in law, Darlene Hjulstrom Doherty and James of Lubec; one sister, Shirley Hjulstrom Forsman of Somers, Conn.; two special grandchildren, Erik and Seth Doherty who truly enjoyed their visits and helping their grandfather on the farm; a special cousin, Gloria Hjulstrom Clark of Evensville, Ind.; several nieces and nephews, including Wade Forsman of Texas, Beverly Gomez of Florida, and Valerie Boccaccio of North Carolina. Friends may call 12:30 Sunday Oct. 5, 2003, until time of services at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St. Caribou. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday from the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Blackstone, officiating. Interment will be in the New Sweden Cemetery. The family invites everyone to the New Sweden Baptist Church following the service for a time of fellowship and refreshments following the service.
