ST. MATTHEWS, S.C. – Mary M. Waterhouse, 88, went home to be with our Lord Dec. 9, 2007. Mary, formerly of East Millinocket, was born at home in Cambridge. Mary was educated in the Webber one-room school, Higgins Classical Institute and Bangor Business College. Mary worked several bookkeeping jobs before she married Willard Waterhouse in 1946. In 1957, she moved with her family to East Millinocket. In 1961 Mary and Willard were instrumental in founding East Millinocket First Baptist Church. There Mary was active in Sunday school, singing in the choir, working in mission circle and being a gracious hostess to visiting ministers and missionaries. In 1981 when Willard retired, they became “snowbirds” in Florida. There they enjoyed the warm wea-ther and being near enough family to spoil grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Willard; and sister, Charlotte Morrison. She is survived by her son, Stanwood Waterhouse and daughter-in-law, Jackie, of Medway; daughter, Jane Courtnay and son-in-law, Chuck, of St. Matthews, S.C.; four grandchildren, Mary Jo, Betsy, Emily and Stan Courtnay, all of St. Matthews, S.C.; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Forest and Ruth Waterhouse; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service and interment in the late spring. Final arrangements will be announced at a later date. Interment will be at East Millinocket Cemetery. Memorials may be made to East Millinocket First Baptist Church, 2 Oak St., East Millinocket, ME 04430 or Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 300, Boone, NC 28607.
