LUBEC – Milton Reed Dinsmore Jr., 83, died peacefully July 1, 2005, at a local hospital. He was born Sept. 16, 1921, in Lubec, the son of Milton Reed Dinsmore Sr. and Celia Ramsdell Dinsmore. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his wife of 63 years, Minerva Ingalls Dinsmore; by his son, Delamere Dinsmore and his wife, Sharon, of Lubec; two daughters, Carolyn St. John and her husband, Matthew, of Glenburn, and Marilyn St. John and her husband, Kenneth, of Bangor; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Muriel McCurdy of Lubec who he loved to visit and share memories with; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Delamere Small and Roland “Buddy” Dinsmore. He loved to fish, hunt and trap. He spent many hours on the shore digging clams and just enjoying the beauty of the coast. He had to leave his home in Lubec to take a job working for Bangor Hydro. After spending 28 years with the Hydro and living in Old Town, he and Minerva moved back to Lubec. We will be remembering how happy they both were in their final years together there. He was a life member of North American Hunting Club, a member of the NRA, and the Maine Trappers Association. We won’t be sad for you Daddy (only for ourselves). We will all be missing you, your wonderful stories about your life, and that twinkle in those beautiful blue eyes. At his request, there will be no viewing hours. A graveside service will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, we request that everyone touched by his life in some way, take a moment to be thankful that we knew him, and grateful that he passed away as he wanted: peacefully, free of pain and surrounded by loved ones. A service of Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.
