ANACORTES, Wash. – Mona Ethelyn Fisher, 84, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at her home in Anacortes. She was born in a log cabin in Crystal, on Jan. 13, 1920, the daughter of Olen and Alice (Stewart) Adams. Mona received her elementary schooling in Crystal and then attended Patten Academy, graduating in 1937. While in school she was very involved in activities, such as Drama and Glee Clubs. Mona was the type of person that always finished whatever she started. She met Allen J. Fisher in 1938, and after dating they were married on June 13, 1942, in Gardiner. They raised their three children in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Oklahoma, before moving to Friday Harbor in 1979, and then finally settling in Anacortes in 1988. Mona was an exceptional homemaker, with baking being one of her specialties. She also volunteered extensively all her life, including at the Anacortes Senior Center. She was a prolific artist and enjoyed all arts and crafts, especially knitting and crocheting. Mona is survived by her husband, Allen of Anacortes; two sons and daughter-in-law, Winfred A. Fisher of Port Angeles Wash., Lancet M. and Jane Fisher of Mount Vernon, Wash.; daughter, Darlene M. Fisher of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Rachel Adams of Portland; sisters and brothers-in-law, Viola and Russ Jubie of Lake Stevens, Wash., Violet and Everett Nowland of Norton, Mass., Alice Marie and Kenneth Sparks of Gardiner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. All are welcome to attend a graveside urn committal 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at Fernhill Cemetery in Anacortes, Wash. All are welcome to attend a memorial service at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at Evans Funeral Chapel in Anacortes, with a reception to follow at the Seafarer’s Memorial building in Anacortes.
