MYRON N. GRAY SR. DIXMONT – Myron N. Gray, 79, died unexpectedly Oct. 11, 2003, at his Dixmont resi-dence. He was born May 16, 1924, in Plymouth, the son of Herbert Lee and Edna (Conforth) Gray. He graduated from Kennebunk High School and attended Husson College in Bangor. Myron was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. Myron was wounded and received the Purple Heart for his injuries sustained while performing heroic actions on the island of Tarawa. For most of his working life Myron was a truck driver and a member of the Teamsters union. He loved to be outdoors especially while hunting and fishing or just sitting at his home watching the wildlife graze in his yard. Myron is survived by six children, two sons and four daughters: Myron N. Gray Jr. of Carmel, Dennis A. Gray of Carmel, Anne G. Hammond of Oakland, Kathryn G. Whitney of Oakland, Jayne G. Niziol of Farmingdale, and Joanne M. Webber of Oakland; two sisters, Dorothy Taylor and Frances Stearns, both of Lyman; a sister-in-law, Ardath Gray of Lyman; 11 grandchildren, Jessica Hallett, Andrew Robinson, Richard Gray, Heath Clendenning, Magdalena Niziol, Rachel Whitney, Denise Gray, Torry Gray, Adam Bemis, Aleisha Bemis and Heather Gray; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be remembered by the mother of his children, Ethel (Garland) Burgess of Oakland. He was predeceased by a daughter, Joan L. Gray; and brothers and sisters, Louise Grant, Charles Gray, Charlene Cookson, Frederick Gray, twins Edward and Elwood Gray. Graveside memorial services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at the Pine Tree Cemetery on the Pine Tree Road in Hermon. Immediately following the service a reception will be held at the Carmel Snowmobile Club Route No. 69 (Hampden Road) Carmel.
