SANTA CRUZ, Calif. Priscilla Haskell Libby, 89, died peacefully March 11, 2007, in Santa Cruz, Calif. Born in Turner Center, she was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Maine. She raised six children in Los Angeles, while working as an administrator for the Venice and Marina Chambers of Commerce and the American Cancer Society; and as an editor for Security Pacific and Bank of America. Her passions included camping, backpacking, reading, running, traveling, mountain climbing, music and swimming. She was active in the Sierra Club, “bagging” all Southern California peaks over 5,000 feet. She ascended Mount Whitney, twice; Mount Shasta, Mount Lassen; and hiked the entire John Muir trail. She was a proud member of the Great Old Broads for Wilderness and the Hash House Harriers running club, Los Angeles. Beginning distance running after age 60, Priscilla completed over 50 marathons, including Pikes Peak, Los Angeles, Honolulu and Wild Wild West. She ran her favorite, the Catalina Marathon, 13 times, culminating in a first place finish in the over 80 age group. Priscilla traveled to all 50 states, all Canadian provinces and territories and all seven continents, including Antarctica. She is survived by daughters, Robin Flinders of Santa Cruz, Calif., Susan Zovko of Federal Way, Wash., and Melissa Swedberg of Orlando, Fla.; sons, Jonathan Libby of Santa Cruz, Calif., David Libby of Imperial Beach, Calif., and Christopher Libby of Mammoth Lakes, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grand-children; brother, David Haskell of Woodinville, Wash.; and niece, Suzanne Pushard of Holden.
