EAST MACHIAS – Randy Lyford, 50, passed away June 4, 2007, with family at his side, after a lengthy illness, due to a spinal cord injury, in Braintree, Mass. He was born Sept. 26, 1956, in Machias, beloved son of Richard and Esther (Cray) Lyford. He was a graduate of Washington Academy, East Machias, Class of 1975. He loved following sports, especially basketball and baseball, was a big Red Sox fan and enjoyed a couple games at Fenway Park, Boston. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, going to camp at Cathance Lake, playing cribbage with Uncle Homer and Gram. He loved gatherings with family and friends, playing cards and games with young and old alike, especially enjoyed Beano and Yahtzee. He also enjoyed chauffeuring Junie to and from camp. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Alan and his wife, Carlene Lyford and Ronald and his wife, Althea Lyford; three sisters, Sandra Osterhout, Crista and her husband, Jody Nedzweckas, and Pamela and her husband, John Mugnai; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins too many to mention; a very devoted friend, Barbara Guerette and her dog, Bella, of Glenburn; also a close friend, Una Waterhouse of Michigan. He was predeceased by a sister, Sharon; and grandparents, Ervin and Avanelle (Hoxie) Lyford and Judson and Eva (Guay) Cray. The family welcomes friends to join us in a memorial service and celebration of his life 1 p.m. July 14, at his parents’ home, Hadley’s Lake, East Machias. We hope to see many friends to celebrate his life, laugh, tell old stories, and enjoy, as he would hope we would. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Washington Academy annual fund, in memory of Randy Lyford.
