TOPSFIELD and DANFORTH – Roland G. Ripley passed away Feb. 18, 2006, at a Bangor hospital, after a long illness, surrounded by family. Roland was born Nov. 28, 1937, in Topsfield, the first son born to the late George and Ruth Bean Ripley. He attended school in Topsfield and Lee. Roland was a truck driver by choice in Connecticut and Maine. He loved hunting, fishing, stock car racing, NASCAR and driving his truck. Lovingly known as “One Trip Rip” and “Red Fox.” He was predeceased by two brothers, Franklin and Rusty Ripley; and one sister, Faye Hamilton. He will be sadly missed by his loving partner in life, Angie Hoyt; four children, Amber and Buddy Jewell, Kara and Cris Jackins, Ray and Chuckie Hoyt; six grandchildren, Stephen, Barrett, Kaitlin, and David Jewell, Heather and Noah Jackins; five sisters and one brother, Bea and Gene Shaw of Vermont, Roberta and Floyd Hanscom of Lamoine, Linda and Bob Ryan of Connecticut, Brenda and Charles Metcalf of Talmadge, Judy Cropley of Baileyville, Arthur and Verna Ripley of Topsfield; many nieces and nephews. Two special friends in his life, Martha and Gertie; one aunt, Vivian Thornton of Lincoln. Memorial service to be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Topsfield American Legion. Burial will be in the spring. Family and friends will be notified. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to made to the family.
