CARIBOU and LAKE WALES, Fla. – Sheldon H. Kelley, 74, husband of Madeline M. “Maggie” Kelley, died Feb. 8, 2004, at a Lake Wales hospital. He was born at Caribou, Jan. 21, 1930. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korea War. Sheldon was employed as a clerk for the U.S. Post Office in Caribou for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Caribou United Baptist Church and a member of the Henry B. Pratt Jr. Post No. 15 American Legion. He was also a member and Past Master of the Caribou Lodge No. 170 A.F. & A.M. Mr. Kelley was also a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Bangor, the Anah Shrine’s A.A.O.N.M.S. of Bangor. He was also a charter member of the Aroostook County Oriental Shrine Band and enjoyed camping, traveling, vegetable gardening and playing bingo. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Madeline of Lake Wales, Fla.; are three sons, Sam Kelley of Saco, Michael Kelley of Bangor and Danny Kelley of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Judy Wolf of Illinois; four step-sons, Dana Cloney of Northfield, Conn., Paul Cloney of Limestone, Randy Cloney of Fort Fairfield and Philip Cloney of Houlton; three step-daughters, Alice Philbrick of New Sweden, Betty Coneen of Riverview, Canada and Sherry Grozik of Terryville, Conn.; three sisters, Gail DeMoura of Lake Wales, Fla., Captola Paul and Marjorie Anderson, both of Caribou; five grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren. Spring interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery and will be announced in the Bangor Daily News, by the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Sheldon may do so to the charity of one’s choice.
