DENNSYVILLE – Matthew Duane Durand, 23, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, after a courageous battle with Cystic Fibrosis. Matt was born Jan. 9, 1985, in Portland. He graduated from Shead High School, Class of 2003. After graduation Matt’s love for computers sent him to York County Technical College and then Southern Maine Community College, where he studied computer networking. He lived in Portland, until returning home to Dennysville. Matt worked for VIP Auto, Calais. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, computers, video games and spending time with his family and friends. Surviving are his parents, Carroll and Valerie (Dwelley) Kilby of Dennyville; his sister, Ashley Marie Durand of Gouldsboro; paternal grandparents, Roy and Jennie Kilby of Dennsyville; maternal grandparents, Barry and Joyce Dwelley of Baileyville; maternal great-grandmother, Margaret Robinson of Cherryfield; his very special “auntie,” Holly Lewis and her husband, David, and their son, Joshua, of East Waterboro; many special aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends. Visiting hours will be held 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel, 72 High St., Eastport. A celebration of Matt’s Life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Dennysville Congregational Church. Burial will be afterward at Dennysville Cemetery.
