BELFAST – Maxine (Moody) York, 90, died Nov. 3, 2008, in Belfast. She was born Oct. 8, 1918, in Lincolnville, daughter of Harry R. and Jennie (Carr) Moody. She graduated from Camden High School, Class of 1936 and went on to study nursing. She was a member of the first graduating class in 1945 from the Waldo County General Hospital nursing program. Maxine and her husband raised seven children, and then she went into private duty nursing, retiring in 1980. She was known widely for her yard sales and generous work for others in the community. Maxine was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Burton York; and a daughter, Elaine Elizabeth. Survivors include her children, Elden York and wife, Karen, of Florida, Winston York of Belfast, Gary York of Ellsworth and Rome, N.Y., Michael York and wife, Rebecca, of Orrington, Walter York and fianc?e, Theresa, and Eric York and wife, Beth, all of Belfast; two sisters, Rosamond Hopkins of Florida and Doris Johnson of Westbrook; grandchildren, Sara, Christopher, Jonathan, Brandon, Jackson, Kasidee, Nicholas, Ericka, Morgan and Angela; many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev.
