MILLINOCKET – Gerald L. Jones, 99, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness. He was born March 10, 1909, in Berlin, N.H., the son of William and Bertha Jones. He worked at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard during the war and was a brakeman for Bangor and Aroostook Railroad. He was a machinist at Great Northern Paper Co., for 35 years, and was a member and past master of Nollsemic Lodge No. 205 AF & AM, Millinocket. Gerald is survived by two sons, Lawrence E. Jones and his wife, Carol, of Evergreen, Colo., and Ted Jones and his wife, Kitty, of Carabasset Valley; a sister, Glenna Scarpa of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, five great-stepgrandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Margaret; and a brother, Harold. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Millinocket Cemetery.
