PLEASANT POINT – Moses Benjamin Neptune, 81, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. Moses was born Feb. 15, 1928, in Pleasant Point. After high school he entered the U.S. Army and then the U.S. Navy. Upon completing his military duties, Moses returned to Pleasant Point. He drove truck for more than 25 years with Fox & Ginn Moving and Storage, and also with Allied Van Lines. Later Moses drove bus for Indian Township, retiring in 1983. He was a communicant of St. Ann R.C. Church, Pleasant Point; Crescent Lodge No. 78 AF & AM; and Passamaquoddy Memorial Post No. 11299 VFW, Pembroke. Moses enjoyed playing bingo, scratch tickets, watching TV and going on car rides with his dog, Champ. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Bessie Mae Socobasin. Surviving are seven children, Philip Newell of Indian Township, Dolly Barnes and her husband, Gerald, of Boise, Idaho, Tammy Neptune of Nashville, Tenn., Frances Neptune of Indian Township, Janet Neptune of Indian Township, Elizabeth Neptune of Indian Township and Yolanda Neptune of Calais; three sisters, Grace Roderick of Pleasant Point, Blanche Sockabasin of Indian Township and Patricia Sockabasin and her husband, Clayton, of Indian Township; a brother, John Leighton of Pembroke; 25 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; special friends, Noel Neptune, Kurt Moore and Donald Soctomah of Pleasant Point; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, Champ. Visiting hours will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, June 14, until 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Elder Meal Site, Pleasant Point. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ann R.C.
